Who I am
I’m DJ Ashé—pastor, lawyer, quasi-farmer, and visionary—dedicated to reimagining faith, community, and connection. Growing up as the child of pastors, I witnessed both the beauty and the harm of church spaces. Hurt by harmful doctrines, I stepped away from tradition, only to reclaim and renew my faith as I got older. Through studying theology, I became deeply rooted in Black liberation and womanist theology, shaping my vision of a faith that is empowering, inclusive, and transformative.
As a DJ, I draw on afro-beats, indie selections, hip-hop, and R&B from around the world to curate music experiences that invite movement and connection. Honoring the Yoruban tradition of the word “Ashé,” meaning “And so it is,” I believe the rhythms of music and our bodies can bring us closer to ourselves, each other, and the Divine.
However I am creating community, whether through music or a sermon, my goal is to inspire bold faith, fearless expression, and meaningful connection in every space I touch.
